The neurological system is the complex network of nerves and cells that transmits signals between different parts of the body to coordinate its functions. The brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves collectively form the neurological system. The brain is made up of neurons that generate electrochemical signals to communicate with each other. This allows the brain to control and coordinate the activity of the rest of the body. The brainstem controls basic functions such as heart rate, breathing and digestion. The spinal cord is the main connection between the brain and the rest of the body. It acts as a relay station, sending out and receiving signals to and from the brain. These signals are used to control movement and sensation. The peripheral nervous system consists of nerves that travel throughout the body. It is responsible for transmitting signals between the brain and the body. The nervous system is divided into two parts: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS is composed of the brain and the spinal cord and is responsible for processing and coordinating information from the body. The PNS consists of cranial and spinal nerves that connect the CNS to the organs and limbs. It mediates the input and output of information from the brain to the rest of the body. The neurological system is an intricate network that is essential for the functioning of all lifeforms. It is responsible for controlling and coordinating the activities of the body, allowing us to think, move, feel and respond to sensory input. Malfunction of the neurological system can lead to a variety of medical conditions, such as stroke, epilepsy and dementia.
