Title : Implementing technology for schizophrenia and psychotic diseases: Differentiating hallucinations from reality

Abstract:

This research aims at providing an overview of schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, elucidating the complex interplay between neurobiological, environmental, and psychological factors contributing to hallucinations and reality distortion. Additionally, it explores the phenomenon of dream reality confusion, where individuals struggle to distinguish between dream experiences and waking reality, which often exacerbates the challenges faced by psychotic patients. Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. When schizophrenia is active, symptoms can include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, difficulty in thinking, and lack of motivation. Although there is no known cure for schizophrenia, treatment can greatly improve most of its symptoms and reduce the likelihood of recurrence. The complexity of schizophrenia may help explain why there are misconceptions about the disease. Schizophrenia does not mean split personality or multiple-personality. Hallucinations, prevalent in psychiatric and neurological conditions like schizophrenia, are sensory perceptions occurring without external stimuli. They span auditory, visual, tactile, olfactory, and gustatory senses, often causing distress and impairment. Understanding their mechanisms, ranging from neural dysregulation to environmental triggers is crucial. In conclusion, this paper contributes to the emerging field of digital health interventions for schizophrenia and psychotic disorders by proposing innovative approaches to differentiate hallucinations from reality and address dream reality confusion using technology. By understanding the unique needs and perspectives of the target audience, this research endeavors to develop tailored solutions that offer practical support and improve the overall well-being and quality of life for individuals living with these challenging conditions.
