Biography:
Prof. Esther Shohami has received her doctorate in Physiology from the Hebrew University (HU), Jerusalem, Israel, joined the HU faculty of medicine in 1981, and is currently a Professor Emerita. She was a member of the executive board of the International Neurotrauma Society and was awarded (2022) by the Society Lifetime Achievement Award. She served (2012-2014) as the president of the Israel Society for Neuroscience. Prof. Shohami has published more than 250 articles, reviews and book chapters. Using animal models, she studied for more than 2 decades the involvement of the endocannabinoid system in neuro-recovery after traumatic brain injury.
